 Democrats Unveil Bill for CEO Pay Vote

    The first US legislative effort for two years aimed at curbing excessive executive pay emerged on Thursday as Barney Frank, a top Democrat, introduced a bill that would require public companies to allow non-binding shareholder votes on pay packets.

Wal-Mart to Add Wage Caps and Part-Timers

Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest private employer, is pushing to create a cheaper, more flexible work force by capping wages, using more part-time workers and scheduling more workers on nights and weekends.

But some Wal-Mart workers say the changes are further reducing their already modest incomes and putting a serious strain on their child-rearing and personal lives.

DuPont to phase out fixed-benefit pension

DOVER, Del. // Chemical manufacturer DuPont Co. said yesterday that it will begin to phase out fixed-benefit pensions for 29,000 U.S. employees in 2008 and shift to an enhanced 401(k) savings plan while decreasing dependence on its traditional pension plan to reduce retiree costs.

Help Labor Stop Bush NLRB Assault on Workers' Rights

The last thing America's workers need is another economic kick in the groin, but the Bush labor board may soon deliver what could be its lowest blow yet. The Bush National Labor Relations Board is easily the most anti-worker labor board in history and has lost few opportunities to turn back the clock on workers' rights, but even against this sorry backdrop, the scope of what they now are contemplating is breathtaking.
